You're Saying It's Contagious?

Ted's simple act of ticket kindness to see American Idol Live has brought about some good stories and lots of warm and fuzzies. The best story of the night is as follows.....

I had one extra ticket and for the life of me couldn't give it away. I asked a handful of friends, posted it on social media and texted a bunch of amigos to see if anyone wanted to go. Nope, since it was a Sunday night, my responsible friends wouldn't attend. At the last minute, I figured I would just give the ticket away. I saw this woman at the ticket booth about to fill out a check. I told her that I had one free ticket that was in a great spot and it was all hers. She thanked me and we parted ways.

After hanging out by the tour buses and acting like a true groupie, not really but kind of, my friends and I made our way to our seats. Me being me didn't notice that this adorable almost teenager was sitting next to me with her homemade poster in hand. Her mom came over at intermission to check on her wellbeing. The mom stopped, looked at me and said "Are you the one that gave me the free ticket?" Intermission was just about over so we talked briefly, and (of course) I had to ask the daughter which Idol was her favorite and who the poster was for.

The poster was for Sam. He was this AI's season heartthrob and the little teenies love him.

After the show while the mom was over-thanking me a text comes in from Ted to meet back up. The specifics are long, but the conclusion of the story is that this little girl met Sam.

What makes me giggle to no end is the text exchange that I had with this girl. I'm forever saving it because it's absolutely precious:

Me: the outside signing is about to happen. Stay put. Sam's coming out.
Her: I'm gonna die
Her: Thank you for the best night of my life I literally love you
Me: I'm so very happy for you! Did you meet Sam? Did you get a pic?
Her: (sends me the most adorable pic of her and her friend with Sam)
Her: (sends me the screen shot of Sam's retweet of her tweet with pic)
Her: He tweeted me too I'm like dead
Me: Very cool (emoji with sunglasses, of course)
Her: Again thank you so so much!!!!!

Ted's kindness led to a fun night out for me and my friends and my kindness led to this little girl having the best night of her life and literally loving me.

All that to say, every gift whether big or small will always make a big difference. I'm not a fan of the overused phrase "pay it forward" but I'm in love with its principle and I hope it's principle is overused time and time again.

Long blog longer, when I was coming back from Peru I had an eight hour layover in Panama. I went to grab lunch and as I'm checking out my debit card wouldn't work. The very attractive man behind me who's number I should have gotten says "I've got it, that happened to me the last time I traveled out of the country." I stood there embarrassed, in shock and super grateful. His little act of kindness left me content for eight hours.

Daily Challenge:
Sprinkle a little act of kindness on someone's day. You could buy a cheeseburger for the homeless person asking for change, give someone special flowers, a handwritten thinking of you card, vacuum out your loved one's car, grab the lunch bill, check the tire pressure on your clueless friend's car, a sweet unexpected text or take the time to teach someone a skill. I don't know, you're smart, figure it out :)

Song of the Day:
Ben Howard - The Fear http://youtu.be/dnxCxHLAqn8
*Gushing* my favorite line is "I've been worrying that we all live our lives in the confines of fear."
